The Patient Advisory Council (PAC) at Potrero Hill Health Center meets the first Friday of every month. The council consists of diverse patients who work in collaboration with staff on quality improvement projects to impact the quality of care patients receive at Potrero Hill Health Center, and impact every patient in the San Francisco Health Network. One of the PAC’s purposes is to help the Health Center enhance their focus on care for patients by stressing the importance and significance of the patients’ voice.
Recently, the PAC was involved in a post-card feedback activity for the grand opening of the Zuckerberg San Francisco General. The Communications Team from ZSFG gartnered with the hospital and PHHC patient advisors to receive feedback on the postcard that would be received by about 100,000 people who are part of the SF Health Network, including Consortium Clinic members who are assigned to ZSFG. The patient advisors at Potrero Hill provided feedback from an audience perspective and shared the following ideas:
- “The message should reflect “Expansion” of SFGH vs. a disconnected new facility.”
- “Welcome to the expansion of the ZSFG.”
- “The picture of the hospital should capture the entire building’s face, rather than just a side portion.”
- “Wording should be simpler and declarative.”

The feedback provided by the Patient Advisors from Potrero Hill Health Center was very valuable. The Communications Team incorporated the ideas the PAC provided and published the postcard. The PAC is honored to have participated in the making of this educative material and to have provided a clear understanding of the Zuckerberg San Francisco General to the patient population of the San Francisco Health Network through their work.
