The Radiology Department at Zuckerberg San Francisco General is located on the first floor of the main building. Radiology can be found by entering the main entrance of building 5 and walking straight down the hall (we are at the end of the hallway). The general radiology department is a very busy area of the hospital providing x-ray services to all campus facilities and outlying clinics.
Zuckerberg San Francisco General is a Level One Trauma Center, therefore the Radiology Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are also required to have minimum staffing levels to meet the trauma needs of San Francisco. There are 4 general x-ray rooms and 4 trauma rooms (one dedicated specifically for pediatrics) and each room has 360 tube capability, which enables us to shoot x-rays quickly and effectively. Our technologists are at the top of their game and are considered some of the best nationally.
Team work is emphasized in radiology from the clerks, to the lab aides, to the techs and the UCSF doctors who all strive to give the utmost of care to every patient. Being a level one trauma center, there can be delays and trauma will take priority over stable patients, however we do our best to accommodate everyone appropriately.
